This week I am heading to the WET-SIDE of Washington to look for high country black bears with a bow. Opening day is Saturday, should expect come crowds so we are going to go deep into some wilderness. Headed to the trailhead Friday after work. A bonus is that it is the same area I plan on hunting in early October with my 'muzzleloader' tag. In WA, you can hunt with a bow during muzzie so that is exactly what I am going to do. I have a good lead on an area that could hold some bulls, so essentially this is an elk scouting trip. I am looking for wallows and old rubs, basically sign from rutting activity from years prior. The berries might be burned out at this point, but if they are still up high then hopefully I can find a bear worthy of putting my tag on.

Shot my bow at 100 yards with broadheads for testing purposes. My arrows are drifting slightly to the left at this distance, to me this is a tuning issue so one last paper tune.

Headed to the mountains to scout for elk and maybe find a bear to bring home. Scouting for elk is the main priority and it will be in a wilderness so the pack is heavy and the rain is in the forecast. Thank God I use Sitka Gear!
