Elk hunting in Washington State is very difficult. You have to choose which side of the state you want to hunt (East or West). Then you have to choose your exclusive weapon (Archery, Muzzleloader, or Rifle). Seasons are very short compared to other states out west. Draw odds are bleak for residents and nonresidents have to buy an elk tag/license just to be able to apply for limited entry tags. There's a lot of room for improvement when it comes to managing the elk herds of Washington State. Today, we dissect their management systems and offer up a few solutions to the problem.
