Awesome summary brother. Loved it.
For what it’s worth, I think people just got to get out there and learn what the local elk are doing. Just like you WA folks are a little different than the MT crowd, elk will be different from mountain range to mountain range.
The only way you find out is diving in head first!
Great recap brother, your a grinder! keep your head up and God bless you and your family.
Same experience with the frustrating hunting. We hunt very similar styles. I’ve been hunting the same unit for a few years, and this year was awful. Some of the guys and guides I rub elbows with have been hunting this unit for decades and couldn’t get it done either. Heavy/late snow in the spring, hot August/September, high winds. We were in elk almost daily, but being in them and having them in a killable position is different. Very dispersed. Completely unresponsive and/or running the opposite direction from any vocalization. Still addicted to it though haha.
