Dan is podcasting from the road, headed straight into his next elk hunt—but first, he’s breaking down a brutal **10-day public-land archery elk hunt in Idaho**.
This wasn’t a private-land layup. It was steep, unforgiving country, a general tag, plenty of hunting pressure, and a bull Dan had spent serious time scouting before the season ever started.
Dan walks through the hunt day by day: dealing with other hunters, adapting when plans fell apart, deciding when to stay aggressive and when to back off, and ultimately figuring out how to get within bow range of the bull he came there to hunt.
This episode is a look inside the decisions, mistakes, adjustments, and persistence that go into finding success on heavily pressured public land—because sometimes the difference between going home empty-handed and punching a tag is simply staying in the game long enough to get your opportunity.
